Mozambique's first gas fired power station

Sumitomo Corporation and IHI Corporation have been awarded a turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreement with Electricidale de Mozambique for the construction of a 100 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Maputo.

IHI and their subsidiary Jurong Engineering will supply the main equipment, including gas turbines and generators. The order has been covered by loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The power plant features two LM6000 gas turbines developed and manufactured by General Electric. The plant includes steam recovery generators and steam turbines to boost plant efficiency and increase capacity.

Ecodyne will supply air cooled heat exchangers for the closed circuit cooling water system. The project features peak cooling system to provide medium outlet temperatures below the ambient temperature, which ensure electricity production is maximized at extreme maximum temperatures.

"This repeat order from Jurong Engineering demonstrates Ecodyne's abiltiy to honor our commitments and delivery on schedule and in conformance with project specifications." stated Alexander Luft, Ecodyne's Head of Sales and Marketing.
